I think you may not know until the time, or closer to it. W/my older son, he had been home six month and I chose to forgo a retreat type thing because of his issues. My younger son has had a much easier transition and although I didn't go away that soon, I would've felt pretty comfortable doing it, especially if dh would be the caregiver.

I wouldn't rule it out, but just be open to the fact that once they are home and the time comes, you may choose not to go depending on how they are doing. Hopefully you can go! I know what you mean, a retreat is always such a good refresher!
