Smile Fees in our state

In our state, California, you receive a payment monthly until termination of parental rights. This is to cover foster care. We also receive an annual clothing stipend (never enough, but it helps lol) and WIC for children under 5, which covers formula and cereal for babies and milk, eggs, cheese, cereal, etc., until they are 5. Once parental rights have been terminated and the child becomes an official "adoptive placement" you receive the same amount as "Adoption Assistance Program" monies. That is until they are 18. As for fees, we paid $519 at the time of the adoptive placement - $500 for adoption and $19 for new birth certificate. This was paid to the county and the state reimbursed us $400 about a month or two later. We did not choose this method of adoption to save money, but just to really get kids that need homes, but I have to be honest and say the bit of money helps me to be able to stay home with kids! And we can save the money we had budgeted for lawyers and didn't use to pay for college, lol.
