A lot is dependant upon by State. Some require going to the county clerk first, others don't. But, at the end of the day, everything that is notarized and/or issued by a public office (birth cert etc) is sent in for authentication.

What you might be able to take care of are any out of state certificates you have. I sent our birth certificates off right away. Check also to see what turn around times are. I had to send one to CA and times have been awful, so I went with a courier. Mine went to WI and no problems with time there.

You may want to check with your agency (remind me to tell Kelly this LOL) and see if they'll email your dossier packet to you. I ended up faxing a copy of my contract to my agency and they emailed me the dossier packet that day. Shaves off a few days of waiting on the mailman.
