MS, this is a little different but a friend of mine is AA and her husband is cauc. They have adopted a cauc boy and an AA girl. She says when she is out in public with her son, people assume she is his nanny (or worse!).
I totally think there are caucasian birth parents who would choose, e.g., a Chinese-American or African-American couple to raise their child. But you are right, you don't see or hear of it very often! And the same with African-American birth parents choosing a Chinese couple, etc.
