I've been reading with much interest the thread "is being selective about race a cop out". Now the thing is, all the questions I've read focus on caucasian adopting outside their race, and we know this is done often. What about minority family adopting outside their race? Does that ever happen? Of course, any caucasian baby up for adoption would be had by one of the zillion waiting caucasian couples...that's not where I'm going with this.
For example, we are a Chinese family and if we would pursue adoption it would be from China. For sure. So...what would you think of say a Chinese couple with an African American child? I wonder if that ever happens. Or an African American couple with a Chinese child? Are their any minority family here that did adopt outside their race? Or have you heard of it or seen it? I'm sure I never have that I remember.
It's not that we're thinking about it, but I'm very curious. The norm for transracial adoption seems to always be caucasian to another race.
