I have 5 kids, 3 of which are potty trained (or almost) and have also potty trained SEVERAL other daycare kids, I have never used any sort of potty seat. I have found that the kids really like to be like the big people and I had a couple that would refuse to use a seat altogether. We always put him/her on the regular toilet but sitting backwards so their legs are strattling it (they face the tank). This way the child is more secure and can't fall in. Also, he/she can SEE what is going on "down there". That helps them make a connection- especially for beginners. Hope this helps
