Can't help you with the BC timeline, but our son was born in Coban; it is a beautiful part of the country.
I would suggest that you do a Google search for "Coban Guatemala" and look for a website by Eve Andersson; she has many photos of the city itself and the surrounding area posted.
I agree that the children of that area are particularly beautiful. When I was in Guatemala last winter (without my son), I showed his photo to an acquaintance there, who had not met me previously; he took one look at the picture and said without hesitation, "He has the look of Coban about him."
