International adoption challenged, Please Help!
Hi,
My wife and I recently adopted an 8-year-old girl from Brazil. We brought her to the US about a month ago. We have just received news that a women, claiming to be the true birth mother has surfaced and is planning to file charges against us. We are very confused and do not know what to do. Our questions are these.
1. If she is the real birth mother, what if anything can she do to us here in the US?
2. If she is the real birth mother, do we have any legal recourse to fight her with?
3. Should we return the girl to Brazil ASAP to prevent this thing from going to far, or she we keep her here and try to resolve the issue from the US?
