Adopting from friend

I have some questions. I have a friend with a pregnant teen. She has suggested that my husband and I (we've had several miscarriages) consider adopting this baby when it is born. We have known each other our whole lives and have a lot to think about. I was wondering who I would go through for this kind of adoption and any information that I might need would be appreciated. I have no idea where to go for this and have to consider everything involved. Thanks!
