Adopting in Yolo County

At the hospital, the "father" denied him and stated that he didn't want him and he(the baby) was taken from the "mother". Now 6 1/2 months into the process, with our adoption almost completed the "father" has decided since he is in good health and a good baby he wants to try and take him away from us. Of course we realized that these kind of things could happen when we got into this, but the social workers and everyone said that this was pretty much a done deal, being that the "mother" is incarcerated for a few years and "father" didn't want anything to do with him. So now we are fighting with the new social worker and his "father" for us to be able to keep him. Does anyone out there know of any ways that we can get around this and find some way to keep him with us. He has never even seen the "father" and only seen the "mother" a few times because she refuses to do visits or anything. The "father" knows nothing about this baby and has no clue as to how to care for him. What if anything is there that we can do? If anyone has any pointers or information regarding how we can keep our son, please help us. We have thought of contacting an attorney but don't know if that's the right thing to do. Please help if you can. Thank you!!!!!
