Every time this subject comes up...I end up deleting or editing a number of posts...so I want to make sure everyone here is aware of our rule regarding the discussion of Fee Based Adoption Services.

First, this rule covers ALL services used for the purpose of adoption or used in relation to adoption, whether they are required or voluntary.

The Agency Discussion Guideline can be misleading, because of the name – which may be where the confusion is coming from.

Services like dossier preparation agencies, homestudy agencies, courier services that deal only with adoption related couriering, travel agencies that cater to adoptive parents or any other service that you are using and paying a fee for in relation to your adoption must be discussed via PM.

Things we give latitude to are:
Airlines
Hotels
Taxi and Tour Guide Services

Adoption Supervisors is a fee based adoption service and the rules regarding the discussion of Adoption Supervisors is the same as the one regarding agencies. You can say, “I used them, I am PM’ing you” but that’s about it.

I really hate closing threads – but we do this when a reminder has been given then ignored. I had given a warning several months ago that we would start giving breaks to those who have been members for a while and were violating the rules…I really don’t want it to come to that again, but when we’re seeing a lot of disregard for the rules by members who know them, it really leaves us no choice.

I’ll do my best to answer any questions you might have, provided they are asked in a respectful manner. Sadly, a rule reminder brings out the worst in some folks…
