Well for unemployment it would count the first four quarters of the last five for her income.

If her income was steady last year then that is the bulk of what her wage will be based on...

Otherwise.. she would file for state aid... and qualify for food stamps and perhaps general assistance depending on the unemployment and your state's guidelines.

Basically...she should just apply... some states let you apply for both welfare and unemployment online and you dont have to go down until they schedule the interviews...

If her company fights the claim (they fired her so she has grounds to file) then she can still collect until the hearing... but if they were firing her for a copout reason.. chances are they will let her have the unemployment and not fight it.
