I always wanted to adopt then I met DH, his first wife had talked him into a vasectomy after they had two children and a reversal just didn't seem to make sense for us. We couldn't afford to adopt initially so we chose the AI IUI route and the third try conceived our son. A year later, after 1 try I miscarried and we took a break for a bit when we moved. We ended up with clomid for 6 cycles I think and injections for the last two before calling it quits. The women in my family all hit menopause early and I'm no exception, I am lucky I got pregnant at all, I had already started minor hot flashes at 34. IVF was never an option due to the cost and unpredictability and I didn't think we'd ever be able to afford adoption except on the state level, which we both agreed might be more than we could handle emotionally and attachment wise. I thought I could handle just being thankful for what I had, but no. Apparently my need to mother goes way beyond that so here we are a couple of years later and fortunately we are finally able to afford adoption.
