We did exactly that, our process had been crazy and of course we found a house and got a referral within the same 2 week period. So we closed on the new house but left our closing for the old house until later date, so we had the same address. We moved in the new house but for paperwork requirements and court it was our old address.
Once home, we used the new address for registering him with the consulate and then everything else was updated with the first post placement report--it was noted in the report that we had moved and they discussed the new house, etc..
We had no issues at all.
