Hi all!
I am from Ontario, Canada and the DR just opened up for us a little while ago.
The DR has BABIES beginning at 3 months of age, so the pp that said it is hard to get a child under 3 years is mistaken. Possibly, that may have been the case once.
Also, yes, the DR and Haiti share a country, however their cultures, histories and heritage are vastly different. Trust me on this one, I have worked in Haiti every summer for the past 10 years, adn speak fluent Creole. I would adopt from Haiti, however this will be the first child for me, so am looking for a little one closer in appearance to me, and Hispanic meets that criteria.
If you want to adopt from the DR, go for it! The agency I am using is
www.kids-link.ca
Now, do know that in addition to a homestudy and all those hoops, a psych assessment (going for mine on MOnday!

and cohabitating with your adopted child for 2 months in the DR is mandatory. I am sooooo looking forward to this part!!
My soc wrkr is due here in 20 minutes to go over the draft of my homestudy!! Here we GOOOO!
