Yes, I know some mothers who have happy familes after adoption. In all cases, it was after a very long and extremely painful struggle. Adoption (open or otherwise) is not done without pain to the birth parents. Don't let anyone sugar coat either choice - parenting is hard - adoption is hard.
That said, you are not "giving up" a child. You will be your child's mother forever. Adoption does not negate motherhood. And you ARE entitled to raise your children, all of them.
Please seek out some private counseling - not associated with an agency.
