Kim: It doesn't matter. It's mainly the USCIS number (the old Alien (greencard) number system) that is tracked. However, complete your name change docs with your state first (your state delayed foreign birth record). You need to send in proof of your relationship (ie. a BC - the more the merrier - I included both the US and Guate), plus the US is "official", not a copy like the Guate one I have. I sent in the replacement/name change CoC paperwork for my #2 early Nov. 2005 - got it early Feb. 2006. Sent in the G-886 early Dec. 2005 - got it early March 2006. Good luck!
