Do kids ever get to the point where they can laugh about stuff like that. Say things like "It's a good thing I'm adopted, I'd hate to have that NOSE

" or something like that. I never want a child's adoption status to be a focus but humor is such a big thing in our household, wondering if it will ever come up like that KWIM??"
Oh yes, we make jokes about it all the time. My son and I are always joking around about things, and pretty much nothing is off-limits. He's often said things like "You're nuts, mom. Good thing I didn't come out of THIS gene pool." Of course on the other hand, I said something silly and sarcastic one day, and he rolled his eyes and said "And people wonder how I got the way I am...." LOL.
I think if you -- and the kid -- are comfortable with his or her adoption, you are relaxed about it and can make jokes.
