Good news on SSN
Good news!! e are facin this exact situaion My husband went to the social security office yesterday and we got the social security number today! It does not take long at all! The card will be here in a few weeks, but we got the number in 24 hours. I don't know if all social security offices are this easy, but I do think they all must have similar rules since its a federal government office. We had to bring copies of both birth certificates (original and the new one with us listed as parents), passport pages and thecertificate of citizenship---thats all there is to it! BTW, we are in NYC.
