I think ours was about $30-$35. We first bought the safety glow one and it would get really staticky (is that a word) in the middle of the night. It was really sporadic so I ended up buying the Sound and Lights one and it seemed ok and then started doing the same thing. Come to find out if was when the drying cycle turned on for our dishwasher (we often start the dishwasher before bed) was interferring with it!! Duh!!! Now I know better and run the dishwasher when we are out during the day!
So we have had two and they both work great. I like having the lights on it because you don't necessarily have to listen to them crying to know the intensity of it. Sometimes I turn it down and watch the lights instead.
I also like having the base and the two recievers. We keep one in the bedroom and one downstairs in the living room.
