I think it would depend on the age of the child. We have discussed this and we plan to talk to the child about how she feels about changing her name. If she chooses to change her name that is fine. We are hoping to get a child between 5 and 9 years old. So we may just give the child a family name for her second name and if she chooses to go by that name that is fine.
I also think that you need to keep some of the child's original name. They don't suddenly forget their past or their old name once they are adopted by you!
