hi all,
before i begin, i do want this thread to stay unheated. The reason i am posting on this section, because i think it might defuse any attacks.
but here is where i am having a problem understanding.
i am from mass. gay marriage is legal here as most know .
plus, as we all know, catholic charities is NOW not going to let gay and lesbians adopt children due to what the 'bible' says.
our state is stating its 'discrimination' but our governor is saying they can do what they want.
i guess it all started with the boy scotts for me...
due to MY beliefs, i cannot allow my boys to go to boyscotts due to the boyscotts beliefs, I feel bad, because i was a boy scott and got alot of out of it.
now, I have been raised catholic and believe i am catholic. i wanted to raise my kids catholic, but now i cant due to the changes the catholic chuirch has been so vocal about.
so we had to change churches. it kinda hurts that i cant raise my kids catholic, because thats really all i know, so i cant pass that down to them.
so here is where i am having a hard time. the catholic church has been very vocal about gay marriage. But has always let Gay and lesbians adopt.
but since mass is allowed to let them marry, i am feeling that the catholic church is just being a little childish.
they allowed it before, what happened to let them change their minds.
they have stated 'its in the bible' which, unless i missed something, the bible didnt have any changes in the last few weeks, but i can be wrong.
why do they keep going back to the bible when they want to change their policies? its so hard to understand.
i guess thats where i am coming from, i need some light on this subject.
this thread is not out to offend, but i cannot understand how someone who is 'christian' would allow this to happen to these children in foster homes that need families. Though it might not be the most 'traditional family' we know, but nether the less, they are a family for these poor kids with no family at all.
why are they pushing more and more christians out of the church because of their stance on certain things.
i know so many christians who dont agree what it going on, so when does it end, when do we stop hurting these children.
i do have friends that are gay and lesbian, and they are great parents, and alot of their kids were considered 'hard to place kids, older kids who the 'traditional family' didnt want.
i cannot understand why that is wrong.
i wonder sometimes if the catholic church is so concerned on keeping gay and lesbians from adopting, why cant they have a rule that every 'christian family' has to adopt a child from the foster care system.
wouldnt that be the 'christian' thing to do.
again, i dont mean this an attack, but the catholic church is pushing more and more people away and i dont understand why
so i am asking you, why is this happening, why do any of you support this, and how can you explain to the kids in the foster home why WE felt it was better for them to stay in the foster home then have a gay and lesbian family because thats what God believes
i just cant even imagine telling a child that.
or even boy scotts or any other christian based program to tell them that they dont approve of their family. is that all really being christian?
so, honestly, can some of christians out there explain this to me, im really haveing a hard time with it all because none of it makes sence.
please do not use bible quotes, we all know what they are, i really want to hear from your heart, your soul, why you think the catholic church is making this stance NOW
i can see if it was that way forever, but why now. why all of a sudden they decided this.
i think thats whats baffling me along. did something change that i missed?
i dont remember seeing anything on the news?
so i guess thats where i am at. I just keep getting angry because i was raised to be a christian, but due to being educated on certain things over the years, because hundreds of years ago they didnt know, why do some keep to those teachings, when we (hopefully) have all been educated at some point on certain things, and how things change.
i mean, due to education we now can cure certain illnessess. due to education we know that children who write with their left hand arent the devil. due to education, we know that gay and lesbians didnt choose, its their biology.
why is it that one cannot move forward that they are stuck in time. is it fear? is it insecurities around themselves? what possible can it be?
