My wife and I adopted two girls (biological sisters) from (Y)Eniseysk (near Krasnoyarsk - central Siberia). At the time they were 4 and 6. We sort of had a rough start in part due to the language barrier. Our oldest daughter had somewhat unrealistic expectations of living in American. I think that she thought that it would be like being in Disneyland everyday. Now things are fine. It took them about 1 year to really adjust. Since the adoption, I have learned a bunch of Russian and, unfortunately, they have forgotten their's. It has worked out real well. It is coming up on 2 years since the adoption. Both girls are extremely social and active. Our oldest daughter (Aliana) is especially smart. Unfortunately, they left behind 5 older siblings. Maybe we will go back someday.
