We have been home just over a month. Damian has adjusted very well. I have posted a few pictures over the last month but I thought I would take the time to write an update. I know many times bonding issues have been discussed on the forum, as well as how does it feel when your baby is finally home, and how is the family adjusting? So I thought I would tell a little bit about how our first month has gone. Damian clearly knows who mommy and daddy are and is very bonded to us. The first week we had a ton of visitors. I know many people felt they should limit visitors but even our immediate family is pretty large so I just couldn't tell them to stay away. Damian will let other people hold him once he has had a chance to warm up to them, but as soon as mommy or daddy come back into the room he reaches back for us. He is pretty bonded to his Nana (my mom) and is also warming up to my husbands parents. I am home with him until mid June, so for now he is with me all day. When daddy walks in the door from work he immediately wants daddy. He prefers to spend this time with his daddy instead of mommy. I have learned little things about my baby. For instance when he first wakes up we must pick him up out of bed and hold him and rock him for a minute until he is completely awake. If we try to change him or put him down right away he cries. He does not like to be rushed in the mornings and I think he gets that from his daddy. Damian also has gained over 3 lbs since he has been home (he did not gain weight for 3 months while in Gu). He also says mama and dada and is crawling and walking while holding onto things. Damian loves his bottle and wants nothing to do with the sippy cup. He does pinch and bite so we are trying to teach him not to do this. We have to watch him really close around his cousins. Damian is our baby. He was meant for our family. I know everyone says this but it just amazes me how perfectly he fits with us and how lucky we are to have our precious baby boy. I will post a few pics.
