Our three children all came from the same small private orphanage our agency has worked with for many, many years. They were all attached to caregivers and friends and came home to us loving and able to bond. Most of the staff has been consistent through the years, so that also helped our children. They came home at 4yrs, 4yrs, and 10yrs. One year ago today, we met our 10yr old daughter there! What a Valentine's Day that was! We are going through the same orphanage to bring home one more nine year old girl.

I even hate to use the word "orphanage" in relation to my children's early home, for the image it brings up in people's minds. It was very neat and clean. The kids were given many opportunities and the older ones attended private school. I won't give the impression that there haven't been some adjustments this time around with a ten year old girl, but it's gone extremely well because of the love and care she received in Guatemala.
