no personal experience but here's what I saw at xmas time when I watched moms (saw no dads-not sure what that means) with double strollers:
the double wide (side by side): never fit in most of the shopping areas. fits down the main aisle of the store, but very hard to get between racks.
the long stroller (back to front): very long, hard to turn on a dime. picture a semi trailer that's a double, or those long american cars pre 1978.
there are good points to both styles, but from what i've seen, the parents that were the best able to get around had one in the baby bjorn and one in a stroller or mom and dad each had a kid in the stroller (so you might not want to get rid of the ones you have until you're sure).
