Well, we've manage to adopt 2/4 fost/adopt children, both our sons. The 2 fost/adopt that were reunited were both girls, under the age of 3. But we nearly lost one to reunification with a fmom.
Overall we've adopted 2 children we've had (took 8 1/2 months for one and 1 yr 2 days for the other, both fast by NJ standards), lost 2 to reunification. We've had 4 children move on to theraputic/medical placements because of their needs. We've had 2 emergency overnight placements.
Both of our adopted children receive subsidy based upon their special needs. Not all children adopted through DYFS receive subsidy though.
We went through JB, but essentially the placement calls come from DYFS.
A lot of things depend upon what type of child you're open to adopting (age, race, special needs, etc).
