Need a Notary? Check your local library...

Public Service Announcement...

I have just become a certified Notary Public as a requirement of my job. I am now able to notarize documents in the state of NJ as are all my colleagues! It is something that we are having all our librarians do as a public service!

I just want others to be aware that this might be a place to get your documents notarized for free or for a reduced fee. Best of all, most public libraries are open evenings and weekends which alleviates the need to take time off to get things notarized.

I checked around the web and noticed that this is a trend. We had a discussion about this on a librarian's forum too... Many other public libraries in a variety of states have this service as well. Some charge a dollar for each notarization as a fundraiser to buy more books and others are free. I have not seen any public library charging more than a dollar.

Hope this helps... I know of at least 3 or 4 libraries in NJ doing this and the list grows daily.
