My husband will (hopefully) be adopting my 2 sons in the next 2 or 3 months (either by the birth father consenting, or proceeding without his consent due to nonsupport and no communication/visitation with the children). My husband and I have been talking about the boys (almost 3 y.o. & almost 4 y.o.) and are debating over how best to explain the situation to them. While they haven't seen their birth father in about 6 months (and extremely rarely before that), they know about him, especially the older son.

I was thinking we could find some childrens books that might help them understand a little better, but the only books I can find even close to what we need are just about traditional "adoption" (i.e. 2 parents adopt a baby/child unrelated to them). I can't find anything for step-parent adoptions.

Does anyone know of any that might help our situation?
