The dr's thing was surprisingly not about the ear pressure. She said not to fly because the cabin air is all re-circulated and not fresh. People who fly have greater risk of becoming ill. For most adults and even most children that isn't an issue. A child who is only a few weeks old doesn't have the immune system to fight it. the Doc said that if it were more than 10 hours in teh car, then yes, it's a trade off for the flight. Her point to us was that it's only 5 hours by car, and with a stop (or two) to feed and diaper, it was better to drive.
Personally, I am a flyer and hate to drive long distances. The thought of a camper situation for that long of a drive makes me want to cry for you. To each his own though. Let us know what you do, I think it's funny. Your husband may really regreat his choice after the trip is done! LOL!
