We brought David home in April at 12 months. He was not walking or talking. He was the only baby with a wonderful foster family, but we feel that they tried to keep him a baby. He was still on 3 bottles a day when we picked him up and eating very little food. We visited him at 5 months and 9 months. He did not start walking on his own completely until 18 months old and is still hardly speaking any words at all. He was speaking about 5 words this summer but quit talking period because he doesn't want to (or have to)! I believe that his little sister will spur him into speaking more but he will probably need some speech therapy around 2 year old.
I would not worry as every child IS different and your little one will be fine no matter what. All they need is exactly what we have to offer, and that is LOTS OF LOVE.
