I just had to respond to this one, I have no experience with the court system regarding the use of methodone. What I do have is some personal experience, within my own my family, I have a close family member, that is on methadone maintenance. The effects of heroin use is devastaing not only to the physical body itself, but to the mental and emotional side as well. It tore our family apart. When we were finally able to get into a methadone program, the effects were amazing. It completely takes away the cravings for drugs, and is able to allow that person to resume a normal life. It has been a miracle for us. With methadone you are able to function, without that high feeling. Make decisions with a clear and focused mind, and be responsible. My family member has been on methadone maintenance for almost 3 years now, and it has been a god send to us.
