Grants or loans

My husband and I are wanting to adopt but we filed bankruptcy in 11-2000 and it was discharged 3-2001. We need a loan or a grant of about $3000, and are having trouble getting a loan because of the bankruptcy. Does anyone know of any loans or grants available that we might be eligible for or if anyone has been in this situation has any suggestions.
