First, welcome to the forum! Glad you are here, and I'm sure you'll find lots of great information. We all have experiences with adoption, but to answer your question is a bit hard. It depends on what type of adoption you are looking at.
Start with research. Read a few books like "adoption for dummies" or others. Once you have narrowed down the paths you think you are intersted in, make phone calls to agencies and attorney. Interview them and ask lots of questions. If you are looking for people here who have adopted and used a certain lawyer or agency you can search through the agency feedback thread (I think its the first one posted on the menu), or post a thread about a specific agency or attorney.
Help us out so we know a little more about you:
What state are you in?
Are you looking for domestic or international?
What ages are you open to adopting?
I have lots of other ??'s but that will give us a start on where you are coming from.
Good luck in your research and road to your child!
Blessings!!
