I'm glad I found all of you. It helps me to not get too optimistic or confused about the info that I have received from Catholic Charities in Peoria. I was born in Peoria on 12/20/1953--a 2lb 10.5 oz preemie. I had good adoptive parents who were always as honest as they could be with me but I never really got over not knowing who my birth family was. My adoptive parents were told that I was of Dutch/Irish/ Scots descent, that a nun who had cared for me in the Schlarman Home had named me Judy and had not wanted to part with me. They were also told that my birth Mother resembled my adoptive Mother and birth Father resembled my adoptive Father. In 1976 I requested non-identifying info and received a letter saying that other than the legal documents, there wasn't any info. When I inquired again in 2000 I received a letter telling me That I was born in St Francis Hospital, what I weighed (accurate), that my birth Mother was single, 27 years old at the time of my birth,5'6" tall, weighed 108 pounds, had dark hair and green eyes and was of Bohemian descent. She was employed as a manager of a magazine clothing company. Pleasing personality and liked the outdoors. Birth Father is described as about 5'8' tall, brown hair, blue eyes, weighing 200 pounds, of Polish descent, employed as a dry cleaner.loked sports and the outdoors. Truly, I don't know what to think. I do know that at that time preemies of that birth weight rarely survived and that I was in the hospital for over two months before going to the Home. My info also states that there was a dependency hearing for my Mother in April 1954. Now days a dependency hearing is a TPR or termination of parental rights which is not usually voluntary. It all makes me wonder even more what really happened. Does anyone have any ideas on how to pursue this? While I would really like to find my birth parents, if the info is accurrate, my birth Mom would be close to 80 now and maybe not even alive. I really would like to find any relatives and solve the mystery that has tormented me for so long. Thanks for any ideas that you might have. You can email me at
