Definitely check out Target and Tapestry books. It's good to go on Amazon, too, as they will have pages from the book for you to read before you spend the money on them (or get them through a inter-library loan at your local library). For me, some sounded great, but when I actually read them, they weren't right for our situation or maybe just weren't to my liking. Overstock.com also has a lot of books and great prices.

We have "The Tummy Mummy" (hate the title) but the book is very simple and beautiful pictures. (From the "Adoption Means Love" series - you can google it)

Also, "Little Miss Spider", the first story about being born and trying to find her mother (not to ruin the "plot", but she finds a beetle taking care of her). Not necessarily adoption-related, but appropriate. Has one of my favorite lines...
"For finding your mother,/ There's one certain test./ You must look for the creature/ Who loves you the best."
