Hi,
How old is your adopted child? I read the family book by Todd Parr (I believe) quite a bit to my kiddos when we first took them in as foster. It's great because it just mentions adoption along with all other types of families, and gives you a great chance to talk about it with the kids.
We have since adopted our 3, and they are now 1, 3, and 6. I wrote a chapter book called my new life about our kids and self published it. My 6 year old loves it and I'm working on book two. It's kinda like her story through her eyes and in her words.
Here's the website
[EDITED]
I hope you can copy and paste that, lol, it's long. But I recommend mine for kiddos around the ages of 5-10. And my kids went through both foster and adoption, so book one is more on the transition period into our home and family.
I have heard of a few more, havn't bought them yet. Havn't come across any in barnes and noble or any other store around here (and I have looked) other than the family book that the kids and I have really enjoyed, but I know from here at the forums there are quite a few parents of adopted children who have written and published books on it.
Let me know if you find others that you like! I am always looking!
:-) Carrie
