hi, my name is glenda- we have adopted 3 kids so far and will adopt thier 2 sib. brothers. the one boy we changed his name completely. it was not suited to our family. the other 2 we left alone. now the 2 we are going to adopt, the 2yr. old will get a new middle name and the 4mon. old will get a new first name as I don't like his.
I don't see anything wrong with changing a childs name when you adopt. my oldest is 7 and wanted us to change hers and when I asked her if she would like it to be renee she said yes without realizing that was her middle name. but that did'nt stick long and we went back to calling her by her first name. I think the decision should be the adoptive parents and if the child is old enough to understand to help decide. sounds like you have your hands full as well good-luck
