BUMMER!! I bet you're disappointed! I sure would be! It is hard to wait.
Zoe had a great idea. When my son was still in the hospital (a few days before he was discharged), I asked the worker if I could go to the hospital and spend some time "getting to know him" and letting him see & smell me before he was dumped on my doorstep.
It was a wonderfully bonding time. Even though he was basically non-responsive (due to injuries) it was a time for me to see him so utterly helpless and it really gave me a better picture of everything he had going on so I could be better prepared. I also got to spend time with the nurses who had cared for him and ask lots of questions. They knew things about his family that the case worker wouldn't have thought to tell me.
The sw had to call the hospital and tell them it was okay for me to see him and I had to present ID at the hospital.
