  • Question for those of you with children and adopting... During the homestudy will the SW meet with your children? If so, how does it work? Questions they ask? Not sure what to tell my kids.... Thanks!

  • yes-- I wanted my kids to be as aware of their cultural history as possible. I bought them dolls that looked like them, bought them books with characters that look like them, watched movies and shows with main characters that looked like them, took them to cultural events like step shows and community pride gatherings and we have a Kwanzaa observance. I sought out a racially mixed church we...

  • What's he thinking? How would you feel in this situation?
  • by Angela_Marie_Cole Last comment: Today at 07:16 AM
  • Hopefully he'll take time to tell his wife and contact you back. It was 30 years ago and he'll realize life is too short. I guess it depends also on what questions he asked you. If you were healthy and happy maybe he feels that's good enough. I don't know. I'm thinking he is thinking about it will want contact again after he settles things at home so to speak. I wish you the best.

  • On my local news in the past two days: A ten year old has been arrested for murder. He went to visit his granddad who was a care taker for a 90 YO woman. The boy went into the woman's room and she scolded him for being in there. He pushed her on the bed, used her cane to choke her and punched her in the throat 3 times. She is dead--he is now in prison, charged as an adult with murder. When he...

  • Before I was able to see MyPage and MyJournal by clicking on those links. Now when I click on either one, the page just goes to the main page of adoption forums. Page will just refresh and will still be the main for adoption forums. Update my page links and other links work fine. Advice?

  • Thank you. I don't really want to medicate unless I have to. It's not severe (to me-but I'm not there to see her in school). I think it might be one of those things where we just have to find a "work around"

  • Please stop touching my kids.
  • by Daniotra Last comment: 36 minutes ago
  • Be direct. "We're teaching the kids that hugs and kisses are only for immediate family. Can she shake your hand or give you a high-five instead?" If you don't want to do even that much touching, say so. For people that keep pushing your boundaries, repeat "in our family hugs and kisses are for immediate family only. Please respect the rules I have set for our kids." I...
