  • You've obviously got a lot to deal with right now and it's totally understandable that you need some space and time. At your age life is very precious and it flies by before you know it. You have your goals to get a job and go overseas and you should concentrate on this. Building a relationship with your dad who seems to be a little difficult may take time and you need to be fully prepared and...

  • I can understand why he would want you to adopt him in that situation. So, yes, the bio dad will need to relinquish his rights. If he doesn't, I'm not sure what options you'll have. Definitely a call to a good adoption attorney is in order. . . . . Good luck.

  • We used adoptshoppe.com to create a personalized book of our child's adoption story. It is very basic and we have started reading it to our child. We have always said that "we are so happy we were chosen to be your parents" and we now include our thanks in evening prayers. I have a client who has adopted all five of her children and all have different birth parents. With her oldest,...

  • Hey everyone! Well my story started way back, I am also adopted. The family I was adopted into was horrifically abusive in every way imaginable, and I was kept a prisoner in my bedroom. I knew I was not loved, many things said and done confirmed that. After several attempts to get help I ran out of state where I met my daughters father. I was wild and wanted to experience everything, I did many...

  • You are doing a fantastic job and you are a wonderful parent. All parents question whether they being good parents, it's natural. I know things are extremely tough for you but you have undoubtedly sacrificed a lot for your child. Giving up a child for adoption after 4 years will cause you so much pain that's it's not worth even contemplating. It's obvious that you care for your daughter more...

  • Congrats on getting re-licensed! We're not actively looking right now but maybe before too long. This small taste of frustration interacting with the SW made me even more in awe of all the people on these boards who do this every day.
