  • St. Vincent's closed for good in 1972, but from what I've read, they stopped accepting children for placement in 1968 due to the ending of funding from the state, that was when DCFS was formed. The building was taken over by Catholic Charities in 1972.

  • I've seen so many TV shows lately with the joke/theme in some way, or with the loss of child or parent theme. My husband groans every time, buts still records things for me. My thinking has been - might as well "study" it, it really is everywhere. must be why so many adoptees say you can't get away from it, or how could you possibly forget when it shows up everywhere! I would suggest...

  • I like the idea of an online blog. I am tired of sending pics and not hearing a "hey thanks, I got them" or "oh the girls are so cute" or whatever that indicates they got the pics and are somewhat thankful for the time I put into it. OP - Good luck. Know you're not alone.

  • Do you have family in India? Possibly they can go to the embassy for you to pick up the clearance and bring a notary with them (even if you have to pay for a family friend to become a notary to take along). You could send notarized permission and request fir them to pick it up? Then, posssibly, they can notarized it at that time. They may be able to see it signed and verify identity while...

  • The other thing that resonates is the feeling that somehow your inability to conceive is related to having given up a child. My birthmother told me that she used to worry herself into a rut thinking that something would happen to one of her "boys" because she gave me up. They are hearty and healthy despite this "legend" she invested in nurturing along. I think that...

  • Yes, they have a committee and we've asked that they reconsider their decision and gave them a lengthy letter as to why we believe they retain her, but they have not changed their decision and their response was that due to all the changes Ariana has expirienced this past year, they believe it would be in her benefit to pass her on and that it would do more harm than good to retain her. There are...

  • Sherree, it also occurs to me that your APs couldn't have "gotten" you without at least some complicity on the part of local law enforcement, courts, etc., if your bio family was fighting for you to be returned. Have you addressed this issue with the local law enforcement? You don't need to answer me, I'm just thinking out loud.

If any of you have friends around twenty and / or have friends in New York state, could you please do us a HUGE favor and repost this on your page? Jared is thirteen and would really love to meet his full bio-brother. The young man we are searching for is approximately twenty years old, adopted through the Family Services of Westchester...

  • Hello, all: I'm new here. Last week--it hasn't even been a full week, yet--I learned that women with my rare eye condition actually lose some (or a lot) of their sight when pregnant. There have been no official studies on this because, as I said, the condition is rare in women of reproductive age. But, I've been talking to experts who tell their patients that vision loss is "expected"...

  • Nevada jen-we actually have all the paperwork filled out to get nursing care, I just didn't think we needed it, I think I need to think again. I am going to send it in now and hopefully we can get at least a couple shifts a week. I wasn't sure I would be comfortable with a stranger in my house, but now I think I am I also made an appointment to talk to someone, I figure it can't hurt to vent...

  • My friend uses an anklet for her broken ankle actually. Another friend uses them for her arthritis (she no longer has to take meds) A few other people on my facebook group for our local maternal /baby wellness center and boutique, a few of the moms use them for migraines with success. Our daycare was fine with them. Some require you to sign a form. Personally I like the multi-colored ones...
